[TH] Forum Jump Menu [Deleted]

Aaah, not deliberate then I take it? :)

**Edit ** See you've already fixed it ta :).

One other behaviour I've noticed is when you hover over the forum navtab the popup menu comes up, as it should of course, however if I want to to go the forums I have to click twice on the navtab to go to them. Again is this by design??

Not really, although it could be useful for some sites so I've put it as an option in case anyone prefers it the old way. Completely ignoring your post was not deliberate either. Got a lot on my plate at the moment. Sorry.

No problem, while you replied to my post, I was editing it as found another possible issue, have quoted it below:

I think this is by design. I do most of my testing on a touch-screen computer, which has slightly different behaviour than on a non-touch-screen computer, but as far as I know it works exactly the same as the other tabs that are not selected. Let me know if this is not the case.

I've found with other tabs, just tried it, when you hover over them the dropdown is displayed and a single click will take you to the page for the navtab. It would seem that perhaps the touchscreen behaves slightly differently to mouse.

That's exactly the behaviour I get on a touchscreen using my mouse. If that is not the behaviour on a non-touchscreen using a mouse, then there is probably a bug. I will look into it.

After testing. If I may suggest something, a way to set or increase the delay before the jump menu appears would be a massive improvement, ergo 0.5 -1.5 seconds on mouse over, so on.

Waindigo updated Forum Jump Menu by Waindigo with a new update entry:

Version 1.0.5 released

New features:
  • Added node-specific options to allow individual nodes to have all their children hidden by default.
  • Added option to change the delay before the forum jump menu appears.
  • Added extra CSS classes to allow for more flexibility in styling the forum jump menu, including node_group_X classes for all nodes that share the same parent in a jump category and node_X class added to tooltip on mouseover.

Read the rest of this update entry...

I was struggling to work out why this wasn't working and a few things to note:

It's not obvious that once the category options are set, you need to also go to each node and set that as belonging to a category.

The second problem is that this doesn't seem to work with XenPorta. I'm not sure if @Jaxel does something different but the Forums tab on my xenporta homepage is still sowing the traditional dropdown links. If however I go to my forum index, I get the ForumJump stuff showing up. Any idea how to fix this?

Edit: This isn't a XenPorta thing. The forum jump doesn't seem to work on any sections apart from forums (e.g. SportsBook, Competitions, etc). On those sections it just shows the normal Forums dropdown. Is that intended? It leads to some inconsistent navigation behaviour...

One more thing I noticed.

Say I have a xenforo category called "General" which has several forums within it.

If I create a category in the forumjump addon called General and then assign the General category to it, in the jump menu I get the General category title and then below it I get a link to the General category and then all it's subforums.

It'd be nicer if you could set a category to only show the child forums so you could then match your xenforo categories to the forumjump categpories.

Hopefully this explains it better than the above :p

The top General is the category title in forumjump, the second general is a link to my Xenforo general category.

I have too many nodes to make this work. Please add a setting to hide a node from the jump menu.

Unfortunately that doesn't work. I have 400+ nodes. Many are hidden in the forum jump menu by using the function to hide child nodes.
I still have quite a few nodes that I need to hide on individual basis. You can only hide some childs, not selectively. Many parent nodes have child nodes that I would like to hide, while they also have child nodes that I need to display.

For some reason the function fails to hide some child nodes. This seems a bug.

Also: there is a display issue when you try to view add a large number of nodes in 7 columns and the screen is smaller than the menu. The columns that do not fit are correctly moved down. But on the right a large empty column is visible. The menu width should adapt to the number of columns.

Looks like a nice add-on, but no matter what I try I can never get this to work. I've
  1. Created Jump Categories
  2. Went into the nodes and added them to the appropriate Jump Categories
  3. All other options were as defaulted
Only Navigation mod I have is to make the entire tab as dropdown. Have tried it on a base style with no EXTRA.css entries and all non-related Navigation templates disabled.:(

EDIT:

Looks like a conflict with xm_widgets_posts. I just changed the priority and it now applies to the templates as it should, but I get this at the top of the page:
Code:

Second Edit:

Disabled the XenMods Posts widget (for recent posts) and it now works... so there is a definite conflict there.

I've got 307 and it works fine. One thing I wish it would do is when you click on a category to expand that you could click on it to make it go back like it was.
I do have most of my areas into categories (Touring Bikes, Sport Cruisers, etc) and then have manufacturers under them and then sub-forums of the individual makes, so that may make a difference.
