Speed-question

I am still setting up my forum and just realised that I could use the prefix-system as a category-system.

Instead of having:

• category 1
  • subforum 1
  • subforum 2
• category 2
  • subforum 3

I could use:

• forum 1
  • prefix 1
  • prefix 2
• forum 2

So there would be no categories at all. That would save a page-load. But would the second system require less resources then the first system? I was thinking it might... Like in query-load maybe or in complexity of searches. Or maybe the opposite? Or it wouldn't really matter.

There is no difference in resources.
