Specialist Services - vBulletin, Big Boards, Custom Imports, Community +Server Management

For future reference, if you don't want to mess around with SSH, install MySQLDumper (very easy), upload the DB via FTP and restore.

The issue was malformed SQL in the dump that required manually fixing and some weird encoding issues. Took some sorting out but we got there eventually :)

We couldn't be happier with Slavik's work for our vBulletin to Xenforo migration, and for our server relocation. I can't remember how long it's been since we have been able to find people with great skills. We have a large forum and we have had some bad experience before, so we were putting a lot of trust in him. Slavik delivered, and we now have a much better forum and couldn't be more satisfied.

After several searches looking for new forum software to replace our 17 year old modified Snitz based forum we decided that xenForo filled and exceeded our requirements; that was just the start of the journey.

Next we had to work out a way of importing a large MySQL database with over 2million posts into the xenForo db.
Several methods were mentioned on the internet none of which were workable, to do it manually would have been a mammoth task and beyond our skills set, so I posed the question to the xenForo community and Slavik came highly recommended.

I entered into conversation with Slavik and he took a look at the Snitz db before coming back to me with an estimate and breakdown of the costs involved not just monetary but time wise as well. This gave us the confidence to proceed.

The overall process went very smoothly with no issues, in fact Slavik's laid back approach to the task in hand was reassuring, nothing seemed to be too much for him despite the complexity of the work involved.

The task was to import a dump of the Snitz db into the xenForo database, test for errors, resolve any issues whilst our existing forum remained live. Then take a final dump of the Snitz db and import that so there was minimal disruption to our existing forum - Slavik delivered not only within the original estimate but more importantly within the time schedule we had discussed.

I have absolutely no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Slavik

Thank you both! Was great working with the pair of you.

Hey guys!

Just a quick update, the new XenForo 2 big board importer has now been tested on a few sites without issue, so can be used to bring your import times down massively for a XF2 imports also now. This isn't currently available for purchase, but will be soon.

Thanks!

Does it, or your import service, include issues such as importing vB forums with issues such as node length too short where the Xenforo 50 characters or less default needs to be extended to 100 characters or less? I do not want to shorten my vBulletin "node" titles.

Sorry I missed this!

I have implemented such workarounds for customers before yes.

I hired Slavik (Jon) to help me do a complex vBulletin 3.8/VBSEO migration to XenForo 2. He did a killer job and absolutely went above and beyond to make sure everything worked smoothly and that the server was optimized. Highly professional, on-time, responsive, and a true technology expert. Look no further if you need any XenForo board import / optimization help. He is a XenForo master!

Slavik merged a small VB forum into our large XF one. He made the transition very easy for us. I had been worried that there could be complications, but it all went smoothly. This was our second time using his services, and probably won't be the last.

I recently had a complex migration done. Believe me - I chose the wrong "plumber". I have not worked with @Slavik yet, but from what I can tell, an expert. Can't say which one - (no need for problems) but I decided on a Pakistan "company". Very disappointed. I keep hearimg good about @Slavik

I’d like to recommend Slavik aka Jon, he did an import (1.5M posts) of vBulletin 4 to XF1.5, imported Photopost (including an error with one corrupt image), then a conversion to XF2.0. Thank you! 👏

I'll also post my positive experience with Slavik (Jon). He helped us recover our board from a backup that was literally just the sql files rather than a db...this was a recovery from our site being hacked. Anyway, he was able to put it all back together and get our boards up and running flawlessly on our new server.
He also helped pull in some other dbs that were in the same situation (sql files, not a working db) and that was greatly appreciated.
Anyway, highly recommend and will use for future work as well.

I should expand, this was an InnoDB data recovery from a missing tablespace error. :)

No worries!

I want to Thank Slavik for helping me with a migration. After 13 years of using Vbulletin i was very nervous about the migration. But Slavik handled it very well. Inspite of having a few hiccups with my server, he managed to put it all together and get the site up in very minimal downtime.

Thank you so much.

Happy to get you over to XenForo!
