Showcase (Reviews, Guides, Garage, Directory etc)

Showcase (Reviews, Guides, Garage, Directory etc) [Paid] 2.9.0

No permission to buy ($55.00)
Review Fields are beyond awesome . . . just sayin'

I am having issues where, when trying to create nothing happens. I click create, choose my category, it asks for the category again, and just refreshes. Nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Could be an issue with permissions OR outdated template (as that process has changed over the last several versions). Could I get you to send me an Admin Login so I can take a quick look?

Would it be possible to use a mix of WYSIWYG, Radio, etc in each tab? I would love some multiple choice radio buttons in a tab.
Ya, that is one of the biggest features of the addon that can be done with Custom Item Fields and assigning them to a specific content tab (Tabs 1-5).

Each Category can have 5 content tabs that are part of all items created within that specific category. Those 5 content tabs can have either Content (added from the editor) OR content from single or multiple Custom Fields OR A combo of BOTH.

First you need to properly configure your Category Tabs (Item Tabs Options). You name the Tabs, add a description for that tab (only used on the item create form) and enable the editor (or disable it if you only want to use custom fields on that specific tab). Once this is done, then you go to the Item Fields management and create your "fields" and associate them with the categories you want to.

Here you can see the DISPLAY LOCATIONS for fields. Tab 1 corresponds with Tab 1 that you assigned for the category.

You can also do some pretty advanced stuff using the SELF PLACEMENT fields.

Hi Bob it's me again :)

I have a simple question that has been bugging me today. I'm trying to make a custom field that when displayed will display as a button that is linked to a URL. The users will add the URL that will be used in the href"". My problem is that if I try and use <a href="{$value}"><img src="http://download.png" alt="Download" style="width:204px;height:128px"></a> in the Value Display HTML: and it doesn't work. Do you have any suggestion?

Many thanks

Adam

use {$valueSC} instead of {$value} (see this post and the post after it for detailed explanation: http://xenaddons.com/threads/custom-download-button.1209/#post-6193)

Having an issue with formatting for one particular category. The theme in all the other categories is showing as it should be. It is also not showing the one item that exists in the category unless I go directly to the link as well. Running the beta version.

How it should look:

How it looks:

Entering the direct link to the item shows the base xF theme:

Any ideas what's going on or where this setting is located?

Thanks in advance for you reply.

My guess (without being able to see the category settings) is that you have the Category Option to override the users style and its set on default style. So either set it to the correct style or uncheck the override to use the global style setting (which is new in SC 2.3.0 RC 1)

*sigh* Forgot about the settings under the application tab, it's been one of those days. Thanks for the quick reply!

For anyone on the fence about this addon, it's well worth the $60. I was lucky enough to grab it when it was cheaper; one of the few purchases I've made for my site where I'm beyond happy. Bob is responsive and awesome, the addon itself is superbly made and he works his ass off to implement suggestions and help people out.

Looks great!
1) How is this different than XF Media (I am sure this has been asked before but couldn't find it in the thread).
2) Does it has similar functionality as Resource Manager + Grid view for the resource view.
3) Is this add-on responsive?

Thank you,

Thank you,
Did you read the overview, look at the demo and check out the example sites? https://xenforo.com/community/resou...gement-system-guides-garage-reviews-etc.1208/ That explains most of what you are asking. If you want to know about specific functionality or need further clarification on something specific, let me know.

Thank you for the reply. Here is what I noticed.

Showcase = Resource Manager + MediaGallary
1) Showcase ...adds grid view functionality in addition to all the functions in XF- Resource Manager
2) MediaGallary and Showcase share 60% same functionality but Showcase seem lot of functionality with lot of flexibility.

Showcase = Resource Manager + MediaGallary
That really isn't the case. All 3 addons do have some of the same/similar functionality (as do dozens of other addons), however, all have very different architectures and overall major purposes and functionality. Each has their own specific/unique functionality(s) that are not shared by the others as well.

1) Showcase ...adds grid view functionality in addition to all the functions in XF- Resource Manager
There are several major Resource Manager features/functions that Showcase does not have (and vice versa). Even the similar features (like Custom Fields for example) are not the same between the two addons (in both backend management and frontend usage). Showcase does a lot more with Custom Fields than the RM does. As just mentioned, Showcase has dozens of features/functions that the Resource Manager doesn't have like for example: Custom Review Fields, light weight comments system, Enhanced Filtering System with several different types of filters, built in XFMG integration, built in CTA FT & Portal integration, built in [bd] framework integration, 4 different Layouts (Article View, List View, Grid View and Modular Sliders) (which can be set per category), Enhanced Rate/Review system w/review fields (per category), Search by Custom Field, Tags, Image/upload Permissions per user group, style overrides per category, Read Marking, View Counts, Custom Category Content (displays on category pages), Multiple Image Gallery layout types (to include the ability to integrate XFMG Albums) ....there is MUCH MORE And then there are OPTIONS (which is a huge part of showcase). The RM has around 20ish options settings (with none of them having category overrides). Showcase has well over 200 options with several of those having category overrides (to be able to set those global options on a per category basis).

2) MediaGallary and Showcase share 60% same functionality but Showcase seem lot of functionality with lot of flexibility.
Just as I explained above, there are several major features/functions that XFMG has that showcase doesn't have (nor will it ever, because its not a "Gallery") and vice versa, there are things that XFMG won't ever have that showcase has because they are not features of a "Gallery".

If you want (need) an addon that allows you to upload files for users to DOWNLOAD, then you will want to use the Resource Manager. It is by far the best option available and is a 1st party addon.
If you want (need) a GALLERY, then you have a few options. You should at least consider the top two: XFMG (my personal choice, plus its a 1st party addon) or XenGallery (another excellent gallery addon).
If you want (need) an addon that has a TON of configuration options (both global and per category), that allows users to create content to showcase their items/products/reviews etc, is easy to setup/configure right out of the box with no customization needed, are OK with using a 3rd party addon, then you will probably like what Showcase has to offer.

It boils down to what your needs are (which you've not mentioned, so its hard to recommend). The advice I give (to anyone that asks me) is to use 1st party addons (RM, XFMG etc) when ever possible for obvious reasons (support, stability with core, always up to date with core, well coded, supported by 3rd party Style Developers etc...). If 1st party addons don't quite have all the necessary features/functionality you NEED, then find a 3rd party addon that comes highly recommended by the community through ratings or comments or word of mouth, is well supported and has what you NEED.

Hope that helps :)
