Restarted Dedicated Server, Posting Issues....

#1
Hi all, restarted my dedicated box earlier and ever since then the forum has been acting strange, its still very fast for browsing and loads like normal, when you try to make a post, you get the loading message after clicking post and it just hangs there, then gives and error about connecting to the server and does not post, if you refresh the post, it will be there.

Any ideas what is going on?

Did you make some upgrades that required the restart?
I'm running into small issues here and there after bringing PHP up to latest 5.4.X

It's also possible that any caching system you have in place isn't set to restart on server boot (APC, xcache, etc)

That can be the result of a failed or slow SMTP connection (when sending notification emails on reply). A failed SMTP connection will normally show in the log:

Admin CP -> Tools -> Server Error Log

If the log contains mail errors then you need to check your SMTP info:

Admin CP -> Home -> Options -> Email Options

Here is the error message when trying to make a post or send a message:

The following error occurred:

The server did not respond in time. Please try again.
