XF 1.2 Responsive Full width logoblock header

I have have the logoblock being displayed a full width header but this causes complications with responsive design as need blow.
As you can see this adds a huge white space blow it due the image being shrunk and doesn't look very good, so what I was thinking was to when the width gets to a point displaying a smaller image.

I was thinking something like this that @Brogan did for ads.

Any help adapting or anyone with a better suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
