Changing names for a bit of professionalism is one thing, but if you guys start doing the out-dated trend of cartoon avatars of yourselves, I'm leaving.


Ignoring all my other issues with IPB, that's the real reason I can't trust them. Anyone who is using a corporate trend from a decade ago should not be allowed the future of the software I use.

Oh come on. Remember the old GameShark days? the staff used to do that lmao. Hell they even did a weekly animation 'news' segment called Week in Review. That was awesome!

Couldn’t agree more!
 
😒 time to look for another forum software to use...

Can't use IPB because something something many perpetual licenses.
Can't use Woltlab because of how non-German resource providers were treated way back when.
Can't use vBulletin because I'm not delusional.
Can't use Discourse because it's Discourse.
Could use Flarum... but then I'll probably spend all my money making it usable.

Any possibility of rethinking the avatar project @Chris D?

SMF is fine for a free script... but it lacks a lot of needed functionality in todays age. They also are dependent upon 3rd party developers to extend the script, but they don't have the developers that are willing to build large 3rd party add-ons due to there being no money in it.
But it is strides beyond phpBB and myBB.
Ran it on the pipe site for a bit... got tired of it and decided to play with XF on that domain. Now looking at possibility of moving that domain to another script to play with.
