When looking at members online, I usually see "Viewing forum list", "Viewing thread Abcede". I recently see members that show "Viewing forum".
I don't remember seeing it before. What are they looking at? I don't have any private forums so there shouldn't be anything that the admin does not have permission.

I get that on my test forum if I try to view a forum that doesn't exist. Such as if I use an invalid node_id in the URL.

Check the associated record in the xf_session_activity table to get the details of their location.

The view_state table are all valid so there isn't any error record to go by.

What is the controller name and action in the xf_session_activity record? Are there any params?

Here is one record from one of the users who shows up as "Viewing forum". there is no value in the params column

    controller_name controller_action view_state params
    XenForo_ControllerPublic_Forum Index valid

That looks like the global RSS feed.

I wish the URI was stored with the session.

Second this. It's much easier to diagnose.
