Unfortunately CoinHive is now blocked by most Anti-Virus applications and add blockers. I cant even sign up to CoinHive if I wanted to. Putting coinhive on your site will cause antivirus to mark your site as malicious and warn your users about this.

It may be interesting to implement a similar approach as BOINC: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/
The user needs to download the miner (Open Source)

So this is a folding at home type method? Kind of defeats the simplicity of coinhive integration though.

Its an extra step indeed. But all the user needs to do is download, install and run.
Simple CoinHive integration would be easier. But the media is running stories about cryptocurrency hackers every day. Making this a hot topic for anything that blocks malicious websites including antivirus, adblockers and browsers.

I am on firefox with Kaspersky(I know, I know) and Adblock Plus. Authed mine runs fine, it appears to use about 25-30% of the CPU.

ESET fully blocks it. AVAST advertises that they protect against coinhive.

nobody benefits from the crypto mining. If you made a google pool then it would get done

Its seems that way back in November. Now I get a warning from ESET unfortunately when I use the AuthedMine demo.
