    the ipb data importer trashed my forum pretty good. I now have stuff like this all over the place

    Code:
    <!--quoteo(post=2321:date=Sep 24 2008, 02:13 PM:name=Isami8215)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Isami8215 @ Sep 24 2008, 02:13 PM) <a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=2321"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->

    <img src="http://www.whiterabbitpress.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
    any chance you guys have a query that could purge this stuff from my database?

    Is your quote and smiley BB Code different from the standard code normally used?

    If not then I'll make Kier aware as he will probably want to update the importer to deal with this.

    i never installed an add-on.
    I imported the xml
    do I need to copy the other files somewhere? (where?)

    thanks!

    I didn't have any mods or add-ons on my IPB
    you can see the smilies here on original site:
    http://www.whiterabbitpress.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=61

    I see now that some of the quotes are messed up on the original site. I just upgraded my ipb from 2.3.6 to 3.1.4 so I could import to xenforo. I guess maybe the ipb upgrade from 2.3.6 > 3.1.4 messed up the quotes (not you guys).

    The Ipb importer is still in beta version. And in my opinion it would be better to first test it by doing a dry run before the real conversion. Anyway, after the import, did you run the options at the Rebuild Caches area?

    P.s. Did you get any errors at all during the conversion btw?

    yes, did rebuild.
    did not get errors

    Is there any reason why the upgrade from IP.Board 2.3.6 to 3.1.4 caused these formatting issues?

    I would probably look at correcting the problem there before importing to XenForo.

    Hi Brogan,

    I'm not honestly sure what the formatting is suppose to look like, so not sure if they are correct or not in Ip.board 3.1.4. If they are not correct, I have no idea why. I never modded the board or my templates or added anything because it's a pain-in-the-ass to deal with upgrades, so I only changed the colors.

    btw, if it would be useful, I could give you guys my ip.board database, incase you want to test your importer on another dataset. But I should maybe update the email addresses with random bits for privacy.

    is there any chance someone could at least share tips on how to write a query or or something to fix this html in my posts?

    Code:
    text in post
    <a href="http://rapidshare.com/files/143901524/Heisig_WRP_Cross_Reference.xls.html" target="_blank">http://rapidshare.com/files/143901524/Heis...erence.xls.html</a>

    desired replacement:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/143901524/Heisig_WRP_Cross_Reference.xls.html

    Code:
    text in post
    <img src="http://www.whiterabbitpress.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

    desired replacement
    :)

    Give my suggestion at your other thread a try and see if it would help.

    Just to maybe add some light, or darkness, have been tooling around with merging a IPB 3.1 board with xenForo 1.0.1, thus far no problems at all, (have been doing the merge on a development box etc). Not sure where you are getting your errors from, but maybe the upgrade between IPB versions is causing issues?

    2.3.6 to 3.1 is one heck of a jump, something might have gone wrong there? Do you have access to one of the interrium releases, between 2.3.6 and 3.1? Might be worthwhile doing incremental upgrades to 3.1 before lobbing everything into xenForo?

    From what has been said so far, it looks as though your posts contained code that XenForo was not expecting. I doubt that I will be able to fix it, but if you'd like to open a support ticket with access details for your IPB and XF databases I'll take a look to see if there's anything that can be done.
