XF 1.2 Forum Doesn't Recognize Login Credentials

(Again, I hope I'm posting this in the correct section. If I didn't, please advise where I should post.)

Sometimes, when members put in their correct credentials to log into the forum, their login doesn't work, so they are forced to browse as a guest.

Has anyone else experienced something like this before?

There might be a mix of HTTP and HTTPS content, and they're actually getting logged in on one of them.

Before logging in, does the address bar say HTTP or HTTPS? After attempting to log in, does the address bar say HTTP or HTTPS?

Hello.

When a member input their login info into the username/password fields and hit "Log in", sometimes the forum doesn't recognize this and they remain as an unregistered guest.

In general, the only reason for something like this is if there's a reverse proxy and the real IP isn't being exposed consistently (and the reverse proxy IP is changing).

Something like the code here in config.php helps, depending on proxy config:
