Tried to import the XML file but I get:

Thanks for your report, didn't know those custom prefixes are also exported to the language packs :( I will remove them next update.

It is valid. Tested it on my beta forum and it worked without a problem.
I don't have a clue why it doesn't work for @Cannabis Ape

In that case I suggest that you submit a support ticket. Might be a bug or something.

Fair enough. It might be a coincidence, but I got 3 reports from users with this problem since XF 2.2
If I'm correct, Cannabis Ape successfully imported the previous language (from 2.1).
@Cannabis Ape, can you try importing the attached file. This is the language without addons, it's smaller.

Hi there, thanks for the upgrade. I was following the upgrade and import instructions but I'm not able to import it. I get this message all the time:
I tried the zip version, the unpacked version, I even tried with changing the title and delete the extension but nothing works so far. I must be doing something wrong but I son't know what it is.

This might be some kind of limit from your hosting provider.
The problem is that the language file is now exceeding 2MB, which is often a PHP limit.
Could you try contacting your hosting provider? Sometimes, you can adjust these settings yourself (something like php upload limit).
In the mean time, you can try the attached version. This is the translation without add-ons which is smaller and probably works.
(you'll need to unzip the archive)
