Conditional help needed

I am wanting this to work but it does not work with any forum that has subforums:

<xen:if is="{$forum.node_id} == 1"></xen:if>

Anyone know how to get it to work when the forum has subforums?

What are you trying to do with that condition? In which template are you using that condition? Can you post a link to your forum so we can see the forumids and structure of your forum?
