Anyone taking part in Movember this year? I took part last year and looked a right tool at the end, so thought I would give this year a miss! Will be donating instead :)

Kier, Mike, Brogan? Going to be growing a stylish tash? (y)

You sure? :giggle:

Movember -During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face and then for the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.

I was trying to convince the Hubster to do it, but he wouldn't lol.. I dunno

... so I will be donating to another Mo-tacular chap who is prepared to do so instead.

No, what I don't get is the connection. Worthy goal? Sure. But how about something that constitutes an actual activity? Marathon, cycling, biathlon, triathlon? Growing hair? Thats about as passive a fundraiser as it gets.

Thats the part I don't get. Why that? What is the connection?

I think the idea is that it is something ANY man can do.. without any effort.

We can't all be super heros like you Fred.. some of us are mere mortals.. especially the males ;)

We can take a leak standing up too. Even pissing for distance would involve more athleticism.
:ROFLMAO:

Well.. that is all well and good, but as most of you are incabable of pissing without getting it everywhere, that is probably not a great idea in the average workplace (where this is usually conducted) besides which.. Pissvember doesn't really sound so good.

Back to Movember... for the super competative there is always.. "who can grow the biggest in a month"

Does that make it more appealing for you Fred?

Seriously Fred, did you not even read what I posted?

Not something you can exactly do in public though, is it?

Instead of just spoiling the thread, can't you just accept that tens of thousands of people do think it's a good idea and leave it at that?

I suppose pinning poppies on lapels is also a pointless exercise?
Or ribbons.

Seriously, I would have were it not for the all too predictable attack on Americans. I noticed you were silent on that. It really does get tiring after awhile.

I'll make you a deal. Be a little more even handed and address that properly, and I'll happily delete every post I've made in the thread.

I hadn't heard about the Movember idea...here (at least in my college, where there's a big bulletin board down the hall with silly pictures of Chuck Norris and mustache-sporting babies or something), it's advertised as No-Shave November and has no purpose other than to be lazy and unshaven for a month. It's nice that it actually has a good purpose for others, lol.

Because that totally justifies the attitude.
