Allowing users to create articles with video

To make a forum like vBulletin? All you gotta do is buy the license, install it on your server, and you are go.

How to create video sales pages? Well, what do you mean by that? Those images are created with and [url] tags.

Videos are posted with just a simple youtube, vimeo, facebook, or viddler link. That's it.

8thos it is not my podcast presentation. I was just showing that page as an example of the type of page I want to create with Xenforo. Can I do this with Xenforo where users have their own blogs and can post video sales pages?

This is great to hear. I hope I can use Xenforo rather than vBulletin because I just like the overall feel and user experience. However, I am not clear on what are the shortcomings of Xenforo compared with vBulletin. What would I be missing if I use Xenforo instead of vBulletin?I thought I read somewhere that Xenforo doesn't have an image gallery. Is this true? Is it important? How easy is it to place videos on a page? Can a sales page be created that has a banner logo, where each user can create their own sales pages?

There is a paid add-on called simple gallery. It's developer crowd funded a more advanced gallery version to be released at no current eta that I'm aware of. As far as "sales pages" goes. You can use xF Pages - http://xenforo.com/community/pages/example-page/ or you could do something like promote page using xenPorta which would change any thread into an article like at http://calibur.8wayrun.com/threads/soulcast-19-ivy.15290/

As far as adding videos, xF has auto-embedding from most of the major players like YouTube built right in when you post.

Just pasting the link does..

Can someone tell me if I buy the Xenforo license is it only good for one of my urls, or can I install it on more than one url?
Each license is good for one public site along with one private password protected site to use for testing, developing etc. vB and all other commercial forum softwares also have this same policy. Ofc, you can point as many domains as you wish to your one install.

There are some other addons that might suit your user pages.

As noted above any XF space where a user is authorised to type text, they can embed a video. You just type the URL.

Waindigo's Library creates a container - like a Category. Articles in it are like threads and each has a listing on the main Library page with preview text describing the Article.
Currently you'd create a Library for each of the users who want display space. But I know Jon (Waindigo) I'm sure he could customise this so you could make this automatic. So if you put these users in a usergroup they'd automatically have their own Library for their sales displays. This would \mean a small fee though the main Library addon is free.
Each Article can have multiple pages which paginate. You can also do clever things with Custom Fields - create more boxes for users to fill in as a form to add data to the sales display - whatever is appropriate to standardise the look for your site. Different usergroups could have different kinds of structure.
Library + Custom Fields can be designed to do reviews.

There is also Showcase which might be very much what you want. This places a`link on the user author's profile. It ends up looking very much like the Resource Manager here on XF - see Resources on the top navbar.

I think that as your needs are very specific and I thbnk like me as an admin you want EXACTLY what you want, your best course is to buya single XF and play with it. It's not expensive after all nothing like VB.
Try out these various addons mentioned here and see which one best suits your needs. Since yours is a commercial site it is reasoinable to invest a little\money into research testing.

As far as the comparison of XF and VB goes they are poles apart. I used VB for years but the more recent versions are no good - buggy - slow - sloppily designed - and their rip off pricing structure!!!! The admin is a messy nightmare.
XF has a simple honest pricing structure at a modest level. Its user experience is `sleek and addictive! Totally up to date `and very stable.
On the admin side it is very sleek and comfy to use, and almost endlessly possible to customise.
The addon community is excellent with - as you see above - plenty of options. The only complaint is that there is so \much possibility it is hard work choosing the best option! Support here is fast, intelligent and doesnt waste time trying to fob you off.
The VB modding community used to be very good but so many of those mods are now dead wood no longer supported. That is not obvious so the list looks bigger than it really is. Also VB modding runs on a separate site. Here addons are very much part of the central community. Ask a question about either the core or the addon right here and get a helpful answer within hours, at worst a couple of days for an addon. For the main addons the staff here know how they work.
On important issues staff here will even visit your site and look at it from the admin side to fix a problem!
But most of all this is simply advanced well designed software, using the` latest of everything, and its community is quick to respond and give solid help.

But as I said your needs are very specific so I recommend you test drive a purchased XF with various addons. Talk to some of the developers - Waindigo for Library or bobster65 for Showcase or look up the others above. Contact them by private conversation on here - under Inbox by your name top right.

Morgain,
Thanks for your feedback. Is it easy to install Add-ons? Do I need to mess with code, or is it accessible to non-tech people?
Dustin
DigDoc has given you the plain factual version.

Slightly more experiential version- when I started with XF I'd done some other forum software but always found the admin side tricky. XF is much easier. I was very junior admin level.
But I found XF easy.
To install an addon I upload the files I get from the addon page just like any other stuff I'd upload to one of my sites (ftp)
- go to addons in my admin
- upload a special type of file ending .xml
Very often that's it. The addon might need me to do some ticks on boxes to activate it or it might not. If it doesnt work straight away and a bit of checking doesn't fix there's a support thread to ask the author.

Xenforo has a blog addon called Better Blogs: http://xenforo.com/community/resources/better-blogs.1055/

Peep my site's blogs: http://www.8thos.com/blogs/

You can have your own blog url: http://dre-sage.8thos.com

Sample blog: http://dre-sage.8thos.com/entries/content-is-king-again.230/

If you want them to create their own video sales pages, buy Showcase: http://xenforo.com/community/resources/showcase.1208/

There is a video gallery addon called XF User Albums: http://xenforo.com/community/resources/xfr-user-albums.54/
Use it combined with XF User Albums More for more customization: http://xenforo.com/community/resources/xfr-user-albums-more.991/

To see it in action check out my site's User Albums: http://www.8thos.com/useralbums/
