XF 2.2 180 day mention issue

I understand you cannot mention a user that has not logged on for 180 days. But when they do log on and make a new post, there seems to be some delay in mentioning them. It's an issue because a member returns, you go to mention them, and they are not in the list. Is it on a cron and can this be addressed? Thanks!

There's a bit of stuff going on behind the scenes, namely the last_activity field in the xf_user table - which the 180 days is based upon - is updated by the hourly clean up cron based on their current session activity.

To be clear, the user can still be mentioned at any time, regardless of when they were last active. It's just they won't appear in the auto complete list.

Yes, I just wish it was instant when they logged back in. Whenever I mention without the autocomplete I sometimes make an error and then, when you edit, they do not get alerted because it only works on the first post not edits. So I guess I don't like two things.
