You should always backup your database before upgrading.

Regarding server files, all you need to backup are the /data and /internal_data directories, and any style directories if you have created them as everything else is stored in the database.

You big girl, backups are for girlie men.

We have regular nightly backups so don't bother overly. Which reminds me need to upgrade a site to beta 6

I backup my db when I'm doing any form of update on a live environment, but for my xenforo test site I just upgrade as I usually trash the db afterwards anyway so i can do a fresh import in a new version of xf

Dude, I always do a backup before an upgrade, it's just the things should be.

Just imagine if something happens ? Yeah, you see the point now.

At this point, I don't. I got bored of backups with vB3, and I still am.

At some point, I will have to make it a priority. Especially if my sites get bigger.

LOL, I always backed up a VB site and every other site but somehow I forget to back up XF this time...I do have nightly backups from my server and monthly complete backups as well.
