Sadly I'm now moving to coding my own forums for my community, as this is a necessary feature that isn't in XenForo. Sadly that's $140 + add-ons that are down the drain just for the lack of one necessary feature.
Hopefully, one day this will be added and I can come back to XenForo.
Just to jump on the bandwagon with this one, this was a major feature that I've always wished XF2 had, the ability to use an external database for users. https://xenforo.com/community/threads/please-add-support-for-external-database-authentication.161321/
I have an external PHP site that I would like to integrate with XenForo.
It would be nice if XenForo could use the database that I already have (passwords stored with bcrypt), by being told which fields to lookup for certain functions.
For example, IPB (Invision) offers this...
@Tealk I had a go with that, and that plugin uses some assumptions on how the database is formatted. I recommend using https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/user_backend_sql_raw - However I didn't succeed with this one either sadly.

Please feel free to leave us a review, and help us improve our community!
I use @NixFifty's Discord addon to essentially force people to sign up to our forum before they can do a lot of things on our Discord (Like play music, take part in giveaways and events etc). Although it doesn't yet encourage posting, it does encourage signup, and we have seen a benefit from it.
I'd like an add-on created that forces members in a certain usergroup to have to change their password every X amount of days.
This addon would need to allow different rules to be ran per usergroup. So a higher ranked role with more access to data would therefore have a stricter...
Ability to log in anonymously (Must be optional from an administration point of view, so can be disabled)
Ability to create 'Clubs' / Groups from a member level (I know there are add-ons for this but expensive :/ )
So we use both, but people do tend to enjoy using Discord more as it's more instant.
As I've said in my post, for most of Zapier + XenForo, I use RSS feeds which Zapier then puts into a Webhook, which then gets posted to Discord :)
We use Zapier also to encourage use of the Forum. For example...
