Will this issue be fixed?:
Seems directly related to Froala and how XenForo handles the editor with js, as @Mike found a workaround for part of the issue explained in the thread.
Thank you for reporting this issue, it has now been resolved. We are aiming to include any changes that have been made in a future XF release (2.2.0 Beta 6).
There may be a delay before changes are rolled out to the XenForo Community.
It's crystal clear when logged in.
I just copied an image to the clipboard, then pasted it into the quick reply area. So I don't know if that is classes as embedded or not.
In edit mode, this is what I see:
I just pasted in that image too, just like I do on my forum.
As described here (I have investigated the reply, that does not solve this issue)
Desribed here with much confusion in the replies about the behavior. The issue is NOT...
The key part was this part of your post:
Assume attachments are enabled for now since you can see the differences.
Based on this particular explanation, you're getting an [IMG] tag. Nothing is being uploaded, the image is hotlinked. This is the situation where there is no binary representation...
I'm sorry to revive this thread but I noticed the same inconsistency with the image bb code tags happens with color and size format tags when they are copied on the clipboard. Any formatting past the bold, italics, underlined tags is lost when copy pasting into the editor.
Is there maybe...
There is an improvement in some cases but not all.
Unlikely. There is good reason we strip most formatting; but especially colour.
If we retained the colour information then it causes issues with sites that use multiple styles or copying and pasting from other sites with different colour...
Use Firefox mobile
Open the insert link menu
Long press on either text field to bring up the "paste" button
Click the paste button
Expected behavior: the clipboard text appears in the field
Observed behavior: the menu closes, aborting the interaction.

Thanks for explaining things far better than I was able to Mike!
So to clarify what you are saying, and using this image of a shoe for example:
TEXT/HTML (copy image URL from another site and paste) =...
I actually need to see the full contents of the Create Table field it has displayed there.
Not sure if PhpMyAdmin let’s you see more but there is a “Copy to clipboard” button below which may just copy the entire text so you can paste it here which would be sufficient.
Windows 10 / Chrome Version 84.0.4147.135 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Make a new reply to this and in the rich text editor, paste a word over a highlighted word or with CTRL+V and spaces will be added.
Here is a sentence the NEXT WORD AFTER THIS test will be inserted right before "will" with...
Yeah that's not something we can reproduce anywhere including macOS and Windows and now Linux apparently!
That's not dissimilar to what we already do so I'll need to figure out what the difference is but we should be able to work with that to fix this.
Well the data comes from the browser itself, but it is being accessed via JS in Froala.
So regarding the distinction I talked about, I have been able to workaround hotlinked images being stripped out unexpectedly. This would generally apply to highlighting text (that includes an image).
Thanks for your reply. Could it be an option customizable on the admin CP maybe? The issue you mention could be annoying (indeed) but people that wants to copy and paste entire texts in a well formatted manner find themselves with a block of unformatted text. No lists, no colors, no...
This appears to be true. However, as we can make our own custom BB code (test/hello), it seems as if it should work in both rich editor and BB code editor, as the custom BB code does not render in rich view.
I'm unsure if it will react the same in parenthesis, but let's give it a shot with...
Insert link tool in BBCode editor strips ' characters from URLs.
Steps to reproduce
Copy a URL containing a ' character to the clipboard e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murphy's_law.
Select the Insert Link icon (or press Ctrl+K) in the WYSYWIG BB code editor.
Paste the URL, add...
Thank you for your response.
You are right, lists do copy themselves over which was my mistake. Images, however, don’t get copied but rather attached to the post and, when attachments are disabled (due to the nature of news sites this is pretty common), this causes images to disappear. Mike...
I'm not sure everything you mentioned there is accurate.
Lists should come across, if they don't then it might be more related to the source HTML than anything. Here's a screenshot copy/pasted from a list of motherboard specs:
And here's a screenshot of the result of copy/pasting a news...
