What does this add-on do?
This add-on adds a number of tools that help to avoid having users with too similar usernames on your site.

Firstly, it adds a new user criteria that checks whether the user's username is too similar to another user's username. This works great with add-ons that support user criteria, such as Spam Rules which would allow you to moderate or block user registrations by these users.

Additionally, admins can view a list of all users with a similar username to a specified user when editing any user in the Admin Control Panel, and those with the "View similar usernames" permission can view the same list on a member's profile page on the front end.

This add-on uses a version of the soundex algorithm in order to check for similar usernames. This algorithm is optimised for the English language and may have unexpected results in non-English languages, particularly those with different alphabets.

As the MySql implementation of soundex is slightly different, there is an option in this add-on to change the accuracy of this check to make it more or less likely to catch similar sounding usernames.
