Server Reboot - rebuild cache

I had to reload the server 2 days ago, and noticed the size of my ES Index Size is a lot smaller now

Now it's reporting

Elasticsearch Index Size:
526

and growing with new posts.

Do I need to rebuild the index again?

It might just be the statistics that are wrong. If you can't find old posts, then that would be an indication it should be rebuilt.

Elasticsearch does write content to the disk, so a rebuild shouldn't be necessary though (unless it's been configured to keep data in memory instead, I guess?).

Thanks Mike, I could find old posts, and the search didn't seem to be affected. I rebuilt it anyway, and it's back to how it was reporting before.

These are the two values I'm using from the JSON response for the size of the ES index
