Often a child forum fits under multiple parents. If you place the child under only one parent, then this results in a mass of misplaced threads. Currently the ugly, but only solution is to use linked forums. It is much more elegant to place the child forum in multiple locations in the node tree.

Like DigitalPoint has on his forum:
https://forums.digitalpoint.com/forums/social-networks.118/
https://forums.digitalpoint.com/forums/google.5/

Google+ forum is listed in both categories.
On this page:
https://forums.digitalpoint.com/forums/google.5/
it seems that they are just like Link Forums but they have the information about posts in the linked forum. It doesn't add to the total posts of that forum though. I've always thought that this is how Link Forums should work anyway, so I would be surprised if this isn't already planned because the name Link Forum doesn't quite fit the bill at the moment.
