Hi,

Did I do this right, I want it so I can post in all my forums, so I goto "Edit User 1" and put him as "User Group : Adminastrive" and "Secondary User Group : Moderating" then untick "Registered" and goto "Nodes" and make it so Registered user cannot make new threads in forum 1.

I should untick "Registered" right as if I tick it on 2nd user group it wont let me post in forum 1.

Nope.

Permissions are cumulative so you don't need to remove members from groups.
Just add them to groups with the additional permissions you want them to have.

All users should have the Registered user group as their primary.

Just revoke/allow permissions for specific groups if you want to set node specific permissions.

See the help manual for more:
http://xenforo.com/help/permissions/
http://xenforo.com/help/user-groups/
http://xenforo.com/help/moderators/
http://xenforo.com/help/administrators/

if i set registered as primary and 2nd admin and mod i cant post in forum 1 if i set so only admins and mods can post there with the nod permissions

tried that setting user 1 as primary registered and 2nd admin and mod then forum 1 node to allow admins and mods and disallow registered then it wont let me into forum 1.

It does work as I use that set-up on my forum.

User Groups
Registered: Post new thread - Allow
Administrative: Post new thread - Not Set (No)

Node
Registered: Post new thread - Revoke
Administrative: Post new thread - Allow

See what was wrong I had adminastrive in node all set to inherit - does new thread need setting to allow or all of them like post reply etc?

In your case, for the node specific permissions, whichever permissions you revoke for the Registered group, you will have to Allow for the Administrative and Moderating groups.

So if you don't want normal users to be able to reply then revoke that and allow it for the other groups.

I only disallowed new threads (registered) on the node but it wont let me post replies after I click allow on adminastrive

Would it be easier to set usergroup to adminastrive and 2nd user group to mod and untick registered as dont admins get full permissions?

I'm not sure how else I can make it any clearer other than what I posted in post #6.
Or what is in the help manual documents.

Just repeat what you did for Post new thread for any other permissions.

Found out what was wrong I had replies revoked on the registered node, set permissions now as you said above, works perfect....thankyou
